FASHION FORWARD!

I continued my research by interviewing two of my classmates in my English 4 class. I sat down with them and this is how they viewed the impact of the 80's.

Q: "How do you think the 80's generation influenced today's generation?"

A: "I think it influenced to days generation allot. Everything to bamboo earrings, Nike Ones, and Jordan's. It seems like everything is repeating itself."

Q: "Do you think it it a positive effect on our generation"

A: "I'm "ify" because it has a positive effect and a negative effect. I think it is positive because the older styles are making a come back and becoming popular. But also it's a problem because not everyone can afford to have that 80's retro style."

Q: "How do you think the 80's generation influenced today's generation?

A: " Mostly fashion did, from high waisted jeans, big outrageous earrings, being creative with clothes; such as, not matching, flat pointed shoes, chunky belts and leg warmers.

Q: "Do you think it was a positive effect on our generation"

A: "Yea! I love the 80's style. As you can see I'm wearing my converse, which were a very popular sneaker back in the day."

King, kiera. "Personal Interview". May 9. 2008

After interviewing my two classmates I realized how much the 80's generation really made an impact on how we live our life. 80's fashion really came back in full force on our generation.
I wonder if some of our own personal styles (without the 80's style influence" will make an impact on my kids generation? hmmmmmm.

Reseaching 80's Life!

I began to research on the computer in English class. All i did was go to Google and type in "80's influences". A whole bunch of websites came up, I clicked the first one which led me to all the influences which the 80's had on today's generation. The site had everything to 80's music artists to television personalities of the 80's.
I learned that Madonna and Michael Jackson were two of the most influential and successful music artists of the 80's. Madonna gave women reasons to express their sexuality and to empower women. Madonna once said, "Just because you are strong doesn't make you a bitch or a slut, and if people call you that, so what?" Madonna made it possible for women solo artists today to be sexy, such as Britney Spears and Christina Aguilar. Michael Jackson also was a big influence on today's male solo artists to dance your heart out, such as Usher, Chris Brown and many others.
Television personalities of the 80's made a huge impact on today's sitcoms. You could still see Bill Cosby on Nick At Night. The Bill Cosby made it possible for family comedy shows today. "My Wife and Kids" is a popular comedic family sitcom which could relate to The Cosby Show in many ways. Molly Ringwald was one of my FAVORITE teenage stars of the 80's. I own 16 Candles and Pretty In Pink. Molly Ringwald showed the feelings teenage girls go through when they mature and go through puberty which every girl can relate to.
I'm currently looking for some more information on the 80's life. I plan on interviewing some people in my English class on their perspectives of the 80's influences.

80's TAKE OVER!

I first start realizing the change at the beginning of my junior year in high school when I saw a few girls with leggings on under their denim skirts. At first i thought this look was kind of tacky, until I looked at my Glamour magazine and realized that leggings were "in". The article I read was based on 80's fashion and how different designers our incorporating it into their lines of clothing.
One day when I was driving i noticed how different songs were taking beats from 80's songs or from 'back in the day". Today rappers take different lines from differnet artists in the 80's, such as the first rap group from the 80's, RAPPERS DELIGHT. Using different lines or beats from the 80's made their songs more interesting and would attract not only younger viewers but older viewers as well.
Not only did the 80's clothing and music affect today's way of life, but the hairstyles did as well. Walking in the halls of McKinley High School you could see the boys with their names designed into their head or the popular side parts. You could also see the girls with their asymmetrical bobs (thanks to the popular singer Rhianna),and door knocker earrings, such as Bamboo and hearts.
I never thought my parents generation would influence my generation in so many ways. I now question, did the 80's generation have a positive impact on today's generation?
